I'll tell you what the coolest and hippest trend this season - Change! :)
For the first time in Malaysian history, National Front - our main ruling coalition ever since our Independence - was denied its two-thirds majority in the parliament. How awesome it that?!!!
I am stoked. :) But not because National Front lost its two-thirds majority. I am stoked because finally Malaysians decided its time to change. For them to vote for the opposition signified that they believed something has got to change, and for better or worse, they're willing to take the risk. And this is a good sign! Because for so long we've convinced ourselves that things won't get any better and that nothing we do will change anything. But this election has proven otherwise. People are just sick and tired of the same old shit.
Will the opposition make things better, or will they disappoint us? It's not gonna be easy, and it's gonna take some time. We shall see. :)
Do you hear the sound of glasses clinking, celebrating this defining moment of our history? :) Cheers to everyone who cared to stay up till late and/or those who kept a close tab on our beloved country's election despite being thousands of miles away from home.
