FD Day 6: The Perfect Antidote

There is a Chinese saying, "以毒攻毒", and it literally means "using the same poison to cure the effects of that poison", which is to say, "the antidote to any poison is the poison itself". Something like that. You get the gist.

The past two days went by in a daze. All I know was that I had a paper to rush for (of which I didn't get it done in time and was 3 hours late); and I had a terrible sore throat that no amount of gargling (or drinking) of salt water could help. Not even the usual 'pei pa gou' (some Chinese herbal cough syrup) and lozenges that usually work for me did me any good.

By the time I sent in my paper at night, I was feeling pretty miserable - the fact that I had another paper due in less than 24 hours didn't help. So when my roommate asked if I wanted to join her for supper, I was more than glad to get out of the house. I thought maybe taking a break would do me some good. :) Anyway, long story short, we ended ordering some spicy and deep fried food, all of which are no good for my poor poor throat. But at that point something in me snapped - I really couldn't care anymore. So I said, fuck it! I'm just gonna eat whatever and bear the consequences later.

And then. Well. You know what happened next. Hee hee hee. I guess there is some truth in age-old sayings like that. What can I say, sometimes the darnest thing happens (but by no means is this the darnest thing I've encountered) and you just have to surrender to this thing called life. Anyway. I found the perfect antidote hehe. The next time I have a sore throat that persists, I know what to do. ;)

edited: I forgot to add the list of stuff I had. Here you go:
- 2 slices of bread + cheese
- coffee biscuits
- herbal cough syrup for worsening sore throat :(
- oatmeal with nutella
- tofu with soy sauce
- shrimp, clams, calamari, fries, fried mushroom, cajun fried rice
- honey ginseng tea
