A Bibulous Evening

Gone is 2007, and so begins the new year. As the clock struck twelve at midnight, I spent the last few seconds of last year and the first few seconds of this year painting. Remind me to take a picture of it when it's finally done! ;) It's Vinod's pastime for the past week since he switched his 'operational hours', I just had to be a busybody and put on some Joan's touch on that art. Yeah that's right, can't help it babeh..! :P (Besides, I'm pretty good at it okayyyy, so he should be thankful :P)

Last night we started our little countdown party at around 8pm, having a potluck dinner at Vinod's. Jeanie bought some party hats, horns, and masks it was so festive. :) Appetizers were quiche (2 choices - cheese with spinach, and cheese with porky) and nachos with cheese-with-jalapeno dip; main course - spaghetti with marinara sauce (but with chicken as substitute of beef, and button mushrooms). Ahhhh shikes, I should've added red wine in it, which would make it taste even better! Totally forgot. No actually I didn't know Jeanie bought red wine too. Ah well, next time then. :) Then we had some awesome salad with chunky feta cheese, almonds, and some kinda dates or raisins. And - drumrolls please - guess what's for desserts?? Ahem! Saving best for the last - we had chocolate fondue, with marshmallows, grapes, apples, ice cream; the only other thing we didn't think of was chocolate chip cookies!! Actually we completely forgot bout the ice cream too :( Oh and we had some choc pecan pies and cherry pies too for desserts.

So let's see. Party atmosphere - down. Good food - down. Good music - down. Awesome people - down. Drinks - down. By 9pm, which is New York time's 12am, we had 2 shots of tequila to pre-celebrate the new year over at NYC whilst watching their celebration at Time's Square on TV. Some reminiscing were going on bout the trip to NYC in March 2007 and everyone was just excited and bubbly. Heh well alcohol helped of course. There were some J & B, eggnog, and champagne too which is for later. So we ate and drank, and I painted - something I find myself increasingly liking. The last time I painted anything was when I was 14, doing it only because I was forced to. Never knew it could bring peace to me. Whaddaya know, another new thing I learned bout myself. :)

All in all, it was a good time, chillin' with friends, not doing anything much or spending extravagantly at some high class restaurant. Would've been great too if we could afford it, but this is good all the same. Chean's face was flushed after 1 shot, Roy had to wake up early today for work, so he didn't go crazy last night. Jeanie had pretty eye make-up on, Dhara's wearing the blouse Vinod got for her in Barcelona, V had his hair tied up as usual and was wearing some blue tee with super-duper tiny writings on the back which I couldn't make out what it was, and Joe had matching green party hat with green-and-white stripes long sleeve tee. Kanlun still hasn't cut his long unkempt hair, Sean's still skinny his pants are so baggy, I'm so jealous. Everyone was happy, at least at that moment, for the few hours. :)

Why am I here talking about last night's party, when it wasn't my intention at all when I started writing this post?!... Honestly! I cross my heart! :P Set out to reflect on my year, reliving my memories as best as I could, the good and bad ones, funny ones and even those that made me tear. Was surprised at how much I could remember, and I must say I've had a year full of everything, emotional fluctuations, adventures, friendships, disappointments, you name it. The only thing I haven't had enough was perhaps, uhm, money. haha but so is the case for everybody else. :P

Is it a good year for me? What's good and what's bad, really. It's all in your head; there's so much to be thankful for, but there can be so much to complain about too. Bringing home some life lessons, I'm glad I survived the year. Hopefully this year will be a better one for everyone. I love all my friends. :)
