An Overdue Thank-you Note

i realized this is a long overdue note to be written for a deceased, but with all due respect, one who's dead 3 weeks ago is still dead today, or tomorrow. so technically my delay is of no harm to anyone, right?!

can't say i was ever a big fan of Michael Jackson. yes, i've heard of his many songs, mainly from my friends' CDs and the radio, but quite frankly i think i've come across more gossips/rumors/paparazzi coverage of his 'news' more than i did his songs. people like to judge the way he lived his life, what he did to his face and skin, and i resent that. they speak as if they know him personally, throwing careless remarks and making jokes of his physical appearance. i wish i could tell them to shut up and drag them and their nasty comments to "the Land of Disrespect", as another blogger put it. but the world is full of these insensitive judgmental people. and i have no intention to waste my time on them, so it's easier to shut them out and keep my composure.

anyhow, i digress. what i really wanna say is, though i didn't grow up listening to all of MJ's songs, i do have a few favorites from him, and one of them is "Heal the World". i can't remember how old i was when i first heard it, but i am certain that song pretty much shaped the bulk of who i am and who i wanna be today. the lyrics so simple, yet the message is crystal clear. it made me realize how lucky i am to be alive, to be living this life. even though i wasn't born into a rich family (in monetary terms), i'm rich in so many ways. i was (and still am) showered with all the love in the world - more than i could ever ask for - from family and friends around me. i remembered thinking to myself back then, that if i'm getting so much from people around me (especially when i'm not sure if i deserve it), there's really no excuse to not give back, in one way or another. his songs (the other one is 'we are the world') indirectly made an impact in my life, and i'm sure to many others too, so i thought i'd write this little not to thank him, for leaving with us such beautiful songs, reminding us of the fortunes we've got and that we should share with others if we could. [on a more personal note, this is also to remind myself, that what i'm doing right now will be worth it.] so thank you, MJ. thanks for your inspiration and all that you've contributed to the music industry as well as the human race. may you rest in peace.

here's the lyrics to share with you all. Enjoy.

Heal the World
There's A Place In Your Heart
And I Know That It Is Love
And This Place Could Be Much
Brighter Than Tomorrow
And If You Really Try
You'll Find There's No Need To Cry
In This Place You'll Feel
There's No Hurt Or Sorrow

There Are Ways To Get There
If You Care Enough For The Living
Make A Little Space, Make A Better Place...

*Chorus
Heal The World
Make It A Better Place
For You And For Me
And The Entire Human Race
There Are People Dying
If You Care Enough For The Living
Make A Better Place, For You And For Me

If You Want To Know Why
There's A Love That Cannot Lie
Love Is Strong
It Only Cares For Joyful Giving
If We Try We Shall See
In This Bliss We Cannot Feel
Fear Or Dread
We Stop Existing And Start Living

Then It Feels That Always
Love's Enough For Us Growing
So Make A Better World
Make A Better World...

*Chorus

And The Dream We Were Conceived In
Will Reveal A Joyful Face
And The World We Once Believed In
Will Shine Again In Grace
Then Why Do We Keep Strangling Life
Wound This Earth Crucify Its Soul
Though It's Plain To See
This World Is Heavenly
Be God's Glow

We Could Fly So High
Let Our Spirits Never Die
In My Heart
I Feel You Are All
My Brothers
Create A World With
No Fear
Together We'll Cry
Happy Tears
See The Nations Turn
Their Swords
Into Plowshares

We Could Really Get There
If You Cared Enough
For The Living
Make A Little Space
To Make A Better Place...
