Identity Crisis

something funny that i noticed.

when Chinese hear my name, they know that i'm Chinese. but when i tell them i'm from Malaysia they get confused - for a few seconds.

when Vietnamese see me, they start talking to me Vietnamese. which i do not understand a single word and reply them with a blank stare. and i felt terribly embarrassed for not knowing how to say even the simplest words like thank you and sorry i dont speak vietnamese, or sorry i'm not vietnamese.

when Filipinos see me the first thing they ask me is if i'm a filipina. and they'll proceed to tell me how i look like one.

when Russians see me they ask if i'm Japanese. because that's the only asian country they know. :D

uhm, so i have a question. do i really look so common that i dont look chinese at all? (not that its a bad thing, after all i am asian so its easy to be mistaken as other race/ethnicity. i'm just saying.) cant help but noticing this peculiar comment from people. it's almost like if they see that you're their own kind they'll give you special offer or smthg! hmm maybe its a cue to start learning vietnamese and tagalog, so then maybe i can pretend to be one of them for a while and get all the discounts i can get! teehee. :P

People just having problem in identifying if I'm a Malay or Chinese, seems like you are having a more serious problem there. Good luck with that ^^

Anyway, to answer you, no, you just look like a Malaysian Chinese

A charming girl like you is easily getting attention from others always, just deal with that xD
