I miss my afternoon coffee time with mom and dad.

My sweater smells like my dad's car. Or at least it reminds me of his car.

Suddenly I wished I was back home, sitting in his car, him driving, and me my mom and him on our way to our Saturday tea time at Robert Harris or O' Brien's in One U.

Sipping our black coffee, sharing either a muffin or sandwich, or a slice of cake.

But here's the peculiar thing. I'd be studying for exams or reading, dad reading newspapers or working on his proposal and whatnot, mom reading either a mag or this book about women coping with menopause (or something of that sort), a book which she's been "reading" for god-knows-how-long and she's still at the first few pages the last time I checked. (Now I know who I got the procrastinating genes from!!! :P)

But yes, we don't really talk. Usually, that is. It's like, that's how we 'communicate'. Yet the silence that falls around us feels comfortable. Like a bubble surrounding us, transporting us into another dimension of peace and tranquility, despite the loud and rowdy surroundings.

I miss that. To just be in the presence of each other. There's no need to exchange lots of words, cuz sometimes less is more.

I miss the leather seat smell of my dad's Perdana. And my mom's smell.

Dad's favorite chips is the wasabi flavored one - and he always get that in O' Brien's. Wonder if he's still having that or he's changed his taste...

omg! tht's exactly like my fam as well! yeah we'd hang out at some cafe, and we'd all be reading something -__- tell u something funny: when my parents were down in adelaide this yr, i brought them to a cafe, and out of habit, they picked up the local papers and started flipping thru them! i was like, hello? aren't u supposed to bask in the adelaide surroudings? "that's precisely wat we're doing", they said. almost wanted to bang my head against the table if my mocha wasn't on it ;p
