Cookie-perfume-induced post.

So I'm sitting there doing my thing, and the girl sitting next to me smells like cookies. Really, no joke. It's soooo strong I swear it's intoxicating. Seriously, why would anyone wanna smell like food?! There's once I was watching Tyra Banks show, and she's talking bout odors that turns people on. Some guys said the smell of pumpkin turns them on. Seriously?!! I mean, pumpkin???

Anyway. Not that I care. :) Today is Wednesday, I have 6 more days before I'm done with the quarter! Hurrayy! Can't wait. But as of now, I still have a 10 page paper to write (due on Monday), 1 final on Friday, and the other 2 on Monday. Will start on my paper today, I swear. :P

MySA banquet will be on the 8th of June, next Friday. Yana graduating on the 10th, then she'll be gone for good. So sad..

OoOooooh. Cookie girl is gone now. Fresh air, ahhh. Speaking of which, I was 'cookified' 2 days ago, had too many Chips Ahoy that day. Am staying away from cookies for a while... Cookies in Spanish is called 'las galletas' (pronounced as 'gayetas'). Just learned in Spanish class moments ago. Heh.

This post is so totally random.... :P

Bits of Boston Weekend

Date: May 5 - May 7, 2007 (Sat - Mon)

Waaaa. So hardworking. Not! I had an essay due the following Monday, of which I'd still be in Boston. So I wanted to read the chapter and hopefully can get it done and email it to the professor or something. But it didn't happen. Sean and I decided to ask him if we could hand it in on Wed during our class.

I wanna go for a cruise...

In the bus, going to Marriott Copley, where we're gonna stay. See the excited faces? Little did we know that we're gonna be volunteers doing some menial stuff for the Gala dinner the next evening and the convention on Monday. Wasn't complaining, mind you. I just wished I had more things to do, instead of idling around waiting for instructions most of the time.

Food was scrumpilicious. The lobsters! And all the other seafood! And the nasi lemak the 2nd night!!! But because I was so busy eating I only had time to take the desserts' pictures. heh. :P

First night. Picture before sneaking out to explore the nightlife in Boston. But ended up in Cheesecake Factory buying cheesecakes. Not me though. :) Reaaallyyyy.

Boston in a glance. View from the hotel.

New friend from Rochester (I think). :) People, meet Xin from Malacca originally.

The mayor of Massachusetts giving a speech at the opening ceremony of the BIO International Convention 07.

The big shots from Malaysia.

The big shots from Pomona. :P

Meeting up with Fred

Date: May 10, 2007, Thursday

This is moi, in my room, before going to Venice Beach. Why am I going there, you ask? Because the brother who's visiting from Malaysia is staying there and he demanded that I go there to pay him a visit or else he'll be a very unhappy person and because he's such a unreasonable brat I don't wanna get on his bad side I decided it's only wise to go. Haha no of course not. Fred is a nice fella and he didn't make such demands. I'm just foolin around. :P Picture caption: Testing my camera to see if it works. :P

I like the sound of waves. And the smell of salty sea water. :)

Ze guys.

Fred and Chee Onn. Check out the sunset behind. Awesome view. :)

That's yours truly and Fred the brother. Thanks for dinner bro! :)

This is Nick, who's kind enough to bring me there, else I wouldn't have the chance to meet up with the brother. Thank you Nick!!

I miss my afternoon coffee time with mom and dad.

My sweater smells like my dad's car. Or at least it reminds me of his car.

Suddenly I wished I was back home, sitting in his car, him driving, and me my mom and him on our way to our Saturday tea time at Robert Harris or O' Brien's in One U.

Sipping our black coffee, sharing either a muffin or sandwich, or a slice of cake.

But here's the peculiar thing. I'd be studying for exams or reading, dad reading newspapers or working on his proposal and whatnot, mom reading either a mag or this book about women coping with menopause (or something of that sort), a book which she's been "reading" for god-knows-how-long and she's still at the first few pages the last time I checked. (Now I know who I got the procrastinating genes from!!! :P)

But yes, we don't really talk. Usually, that is. It's like, that's how we 'communicate'. Yet the silence that falls around us feels comfortable. Like a bubble surrounding us, transporting us into another dimension of peace and tranquility, despite the loud and rowdy surroundings.

I miss that. To just be in the presence of each other. There's no need to exchange lots of words, cuz sometimes less is more.

I miss the leather seat smell of my dad's Perdana. And my mom's smell.

Dad's favorite chips is the wasabi flavored one - and he always get that in O' Brien's. Wonder if he's still having that or he's changed his taste...

Gone and Back Again!

Yo! It's been a while... :) Was swamped with work for the past week, and on Saturday morning 5th of May, a party of 13 including myself went to Boston as student volunteers to help out at the BIO International Convention 2007 (for the Malaysian booth). The cool part was that everything was paid for - from flight tickets to accomodation (we stayed at Marriott Copley Hotel) to food. The not-so-cool part was that we didn't get much sleep and didn't have time to visit any places or go out and take lots of pictures.

Pictures will be up soon, as soon as I get them all from my friends. I didn't take many pics myself, hah what's new. -_-" Despite being tired and disoriented, it was fun!! Met lots of politicians, Deputy Prime Minister was there, and Dato JJ (Minister of Science and Technology) was there too. Oooh and I shook hands with Tan Sri Dr. Koh Tsu Koon (for those who don't know, he's the chief minister of Penang). Alright, will write more bout the trip soon!
